Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid is a 1969 Western film which tells the story of two lighthearted outlaws who seem more inclined to trade quips than shots. It stars Paul Newman, Robert Redford, Katharine Ross, Strother Martin, Henry Jones, Jeff Corey, Cloris Leachman, Ted Cassidy, Kenneth Mars & Donnelly Rhodes. The film bore only limited resemblance to the actual Cassidy & partner, but popularized their legends nonetheless. The movie was written by William Goldman & directed by George Roy Hill. It won Academy Awards for Best Cinematography, Best Music, Original Score for a Motion Picture, Best Music, Song & Best Writing, Story & Screenplay Based on Material Not Previously Published or Produced. It was nominated for Best Director, Best Picture & Best Sound. The two starring roles were originally offered to Warren Beatty & Steve McQueen. Even Marlon Brando was considered at one point. Biography: Robert Redford

Charles Robert Redford Jr. is a famous American actor. Known for his roles in Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid, All the Presidents Men, The Sting & The Great Gatsby, Redford has also directed the films Quiz Show, The Milagro Beanfield War & others. Redford also is responsible for starting the Sundance Film Festival, named after his character in Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid. The festival caters to independent filmmakers in the United States & has received some recognition from the industry as a place to option films. In 1981, the first film Redford directed, Ordinary People, won the Academy Award for Directing ; his 1994 film Quiz Show was nominated for the award but lost to Forrest Gump. Redford owns a celebrated restaurant called Zoom, located on Main Street in the former mining town of Park City, Utah. It has both indoor & outdoor seating .
