Fear in the Night is a low budget black & white film noir directed by Maxwell Shane & starring Paul Kelly & DeForest Kelley. Based on the Cornell Woolrich story Nightmare. Woolrich is credited under pen name William Irish. The film was remade as Nightmare with Edward G Robinson playing the cop & Kevin McCarthy. Bank teller Vince Grayson dreams that he stabs someone in an octagonal room of mirrors & locks the body in a closet. When he wakes up, he discovers marks on his throat, a strange key & a button in his pocket & blood on his cuff. Cliff Herlihy, his policeman brother-in-law tries to convince him it was just a dream. Then, one day, while trying to find shelter from the rain, the pair finds themselves taking shelter in the strange house Vinces dream. After rescued from an attempted suicide by Cliff, the detective uncovers clues that point to an evil hypnotist manipulating Vince. Ive got an honest mans conscience. in a murderers body. - Vince
Biography: DeForest Kelley

Jackson DeForest Kelley was an American actor, best known for his role as Dr Leonard Bones McCoy in the 1966 – 1969 television series Star Trek & the first six Star Trek motion pictures. The Next Generation, Encounter at Farpoint. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia, son of a Baptist minister & later a member of his Churchs choir. After an extended stay at Long Beach, California, he decided to relocate to the state permanently to pursue an acting career. While his mother encouraged him, his father hated the idea. Kelley went on to having a career playing minor characters, chiefly in Western movies & TV Westerns, prior to landing the part of Bones McCoy. Kelley was the first member of the original Star Trek cast to pass away. DeForest Kelley is also a veteran of the Second World War & served as an enlisted member of the Army Air Force between March 10, 1943 & January 28, 1946. His service number was 39 563 856. Kelley was assigned to bomber duty over Europe & his awards & decorations include the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal & the World War II Victory Medal.

American actor born Paul Michael Kelly on August 9, 1899. Kelly was a child actor in silent films beginning at age 7 before growing up to become a Broadway & film actor. Kelly appeared in over one hundred movies, most of them as a supporting actor in the 30s, 40s & 50s. The actors career momentum was briefly halted with a two-year forced hiatus. In the late 1920s, Kelly spent 25 months in California s San Quentin prison for beating to death actor Ray Raymond in a fistfight. Raymonds widow, Dorothy MacKaye, later married Kelly. She was breifly imprisioned for being an accomplice in the murder. Kelly alternated between stage & screen as an actor, finally making his talkie debut in 1932s Broadway Through A Keyhole. Kelly died of a heart attack November 6, 1956. Best Actor Tony Award 1948 Command Decision. The award was shared with Henry Fonda for Mister Roberts & Basil Rathbone for The Heiress.
