In American English, a Bushism is a word or phrase unique to the style of President George W Bush while speaking publicly & usually extemporaneously. Adding agentive endings to words not usually accustomed to such treatment, such as suiciders, game changer & truth teller. Splicing words together in unusual combinations, such as misunderestimated & musta couldve. Odd sentence agreement, such as We had a chance to visit with Teresa Nelson whos a parent & a mom or a dad. Quotes from Bushs speeches that create an impression of incompetence are often called Bushisms. Many quotes, sometimes taken out of context, seem to imply that Bush has significant misconceptions about geography, history, political processes & the world in general. There is no easy way to tell how many of the quotes reflect Bushs actual knowledge & opinions & how many are merely results of verbal mishaps, but that has not stopped some of Bushs critics from using a number of embarrassing mistakes in efforts to discredit him.

George Walker Bush is the 43rd & current President of the United States. Prior to his political career, he was a businessman in the oil industry & served as the managing general partner of the Texas Rangers baseball team. Bush, a member of the Republican Party, was elected 46th Governor of Texas in 1994 & was re-elected in 1998. From there, he moved on to win the nomination of the Republican Party for the 2000 presidential race & ultimately defeated Democratic Vice President Al Gore in a particularly close & controversial general election. In 2004, Bush was elected to a second term, defeating Democratic Senator John Kerry. This term will expire January 20, 2009. Bushs presidency has been defined by the terrorist September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States & his administrations response to the attacks. In the aftermath the US & a multinational force took military action in Iraq, overthrowing & capturing Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.
