Consumer DVD Review [Top] Although starring Randolph Scott this a bland Western. It is also the worst quality DVD picture I have seen & appears to be copied from a video.
Biography: Forrest Tucker [Top] Forrest Tucker was an American actor in both movies & television from the 1940s to the 1980s. Tucker was born in Plainfield, Indiana. He served in the United States Cavalry & then performed in burlesque theater. While on vacation in California in 1940, he began auditioning for movie roles. He was cast in The Westerner, which starred Gary Cooper. He stood out in a fight scene with Cooper & was signed to Columbia Pictures. In 1941, he played the lead in Emergency Landing & he did a number of supporting roles afterward. From 1942 to 1945, Tucker served in World War II. After returning from the war, he resumed his acting career, appearing in the classic 1946 film The Yearling. In 1948, Tucker left Columbia & signed with Republic Pictures. The next year, he made his breakthrough in Sands of Iwo Jima, as Corporal Thomas, a soldier with a score to settle with John Wayne s Sergeant Stryker. After this, Tucker played the lead in action films throughout the 1950s, including Rock Island Trail, California Passage, The Abominable Snowman & The Crawling Eye.

He reached the height of his popularity in the 1940s & 1950s, appearing in such films as Gung Ho! & Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm ; but he was especially famous for his numerous westerns including Virginia City, The Tall T & Ride the High Country. The Virginia -born actor had a wholesome image characterized by The Statler Brothers in the song Whatever Happened to Randolph Scott?. There are many unsubstantiated rumors that he was the lover of his close friend & roommate Cary Grant. His high stature as a Western actor was spoofed in Mel Brooks 1974 comedy Blazing Saddles ; after a group of townspeople refuses a request, the sheriff replies, Youd do it for Randolph Scott. The people immediately take off their hats & whisper, Randolph Scott! A chorus singing Randolph Scott is then heard. Randolph Scott died at age 89 in Beverly Hills, California & is interred in the Elmwood Cemetery in Charlotte, North Carolina.
