The Commitments, a 1987 novel written by Roddy Doyle, is a tale about a group of teenagers in Dublin, Ireland. The teenagers are a mismatched group with no talent that decide to start a Rhythm & Blues band. They quickly start learning how to play their instrument & play a number of local gigs. As with most of Roddy Doyles other works the characters are very complex & change throughout the book. The book was made into a movie of the same name in 1991 starring Robert Arkins, Michael Aherne & a large supporting cast. Posters Of The Commitments

Andrew Strong, Born in Dublin, Ireland, Andrew Strong struck fame when he starred as Deco Cuffe in the hit Irish film The Commitments. Strongs powerful voice served him well as the lead singer of the ill-fated band of the movie, based on the book by Irish author Roddy Doyle. His acting & vocal performances in the movie got the attention of record labels & in 1991 he was nominated for a Grammy.
