Biography: Army Archerd [Top] Armand Army Archerd was a gossip columnist for Variety for over fifty years before retiring his Just for Variety column in September 2005. In November 2005 Archerd began blogging for Variety & he is currently at work on his memoirs. In 1984, he was given a star on the Hollywoods Walk of Fame, in front of Manns Chinese Theater, where he has emceed dozens of movie premieres. Archerd, a Jewish American, graduated from UCLA in 1941 & was hired by Variety to replace columnist Sheila Graham in 1953. His Just for Variety column appeared on page two of Daily Variety & it swiftly became a must-read within Hollywood. Archerd has broken countless excluisve stories, reporting from film sets, announcing pending deals, giving news of whos in the hospital, whos just been married & whos given birth. One of his most significant scoops was in his Jul 23, 1985 column, when he printed that Rock Hudson -- despite denials from the actors publicists & managers -- was undergoing treatment for AIDS.

He lives in Twickenham, London. // Steve has broadcast on LBC radio for 24 years .He worked as a nightclub disc jockey where he met Dale Winton & subsequently joined the United Biscuits Network, a radio station broadcasting to workers in United Biscuits factories. His voice was heard in Scotland, Liverpool, Manchester & London. UBN closed in 1979 & he was employed as presenter of the Night Extra programme on LBC. The Night is Young was the next series of programmes he presented, eight years later. When LBC was separated into 1152 AM & 97,3 FM, Steve presented the afternoon show of London Talkback Radio & Saturday Night Out. Steve has also worked for Blue Danube Radio in Vienna, a station sponsored by the United Nations. He is also known as the host of Crinkley Bottom radio on Noel Edmonds Garden Party. His current radio programme, the Early Breakfast Show from 5am until 7am weekdays is primarily a monologue, interjected with text messages & emails. He is frank about his opinions of many celebrities.

Born Daniel Michael DeVito in Neptune, New Jersey, DeVito became famous in the USA for his portrayal of Louie De Palma on the popular NBC TV series, Taxi. The couple met while both were working on Taxi. They have three children, Lucy Chet DeVito, Grace Fan DeVito & Jake Daniel DeVito. Although he came to be thought of as a predictable light-comedy actor, DeVito fought against this, bringing highly respected performances in such movies as L,A. Confidential, The Big Kahuna & Heist.
