Scared to Death is a 1947 horror movie starring Bela Lugosi, one of only two colour pictures he was in. The film is notable for its narration by a dead woman - she describes the events leading up to her death.

White Zombie is a 1933 film about zombies starring Bela Lugosi. Possibly the first ever movie in this genre. imdb page White Zombie is also a metal band named after the 1933 film. Founded by Rob Zombie & Sean Yseult in 1985, with Tom Guay with guitar & Ivan de Prume on drums. John Ricci later replaced Tom Guay only to quit in 1989. Jay Noel Yuenger then replaced Ricci. During the La Sexorcisto tour Ivan de Prume was fired & replaced by Phil Beurstatte who was then replaced by John Tempesta. The band cut a number of semi-independent recordings in New York in the 1980s, these included the albums Soul Crusher & Make Them Die Slowly, as well as the EPs Gods on Voodoo Moon, Psycho-Head Blowout & God of Thunder. The band released a 45, Slaughter the Grey, in 1986. 2000. In 1996, an album of remixes was released under the title Supersexy Swingin Sounds. The band officially disbanded in 1998. White Zombie was known for combining heavy-metal music with driving lead guitar riffs, overlayed with lyrics heavily influenced by horror films, with sometimes non-sensical imagery.

Bela Lugosi was the stage name of actor Blaskó Béla Ferenc Dezső. He was born in Lugos, Transylvania, Austria-Hungary, the youngest of four children of a banker. Lugosi started his acting career on the stage in Europe in several Shakespearean plays. He however, became most notably known for his portrayal of Dracula in a stage production of Bram Stoker s classic vampire story. During World War I he served as an infantry lieutenant for the Central Powers. He left from his native Hungary for Germany in 1919 after persecution following his complicity in the forming of an actors union & emigrated to the United States in 1921. He was most famous for his title role in Tod Browning s Dracula. The film was a success, but Lugosi was typecast as a horror heavy with such movies as White Zombie & Scared to Death. He declined an offer to appear as The Monster in Frankenstein but made an impression as the insane Ygor in two sequels, Son of Frankenstein & Ghost of Frankenstein before finally consenting to play the creature in Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man. Polly Ann Young was an American film actress. Loretta Young & Sally Blane were her sisters. Young married Carter Hermann in 1935 & they had four children. Her husband died in the 1970s & she died of cancer in Los Angeles, California in 1997.
