The Bodyguard is a 1992 film directed by Mick Jackson, with a script by Lawrence Kasdan & starring Kevin Costner & Whitney Houston. The soundtrack to the film, The Bodyguard, is the best selling of all time. Houstons cover version of I Will Always Love You was the biggest hit since 1955 & is also the most successful cover tune ever. A stalker is obsessed with singer & actress Rachel Marron. She hires former Secret Service agent Frank Farmer as a bodyguard. Farmer & Marron fall in love. While at a fictional Academy Awards, the stalker tries to kill her, but Farmer jumps in front & is shot. He lives & Marron & Farmer go their different ways. At one point Farmer takes Marron to the cinema, the movie they see is Akira Kurosawa s Yojimbo. The international English title of Yojimbo is The Bodyguard. I love this movie. Kevin Costner gives a winning, convincing performance as the bodyguard of a spoilt, high maintainance singer. Whitney Housten is a brilliant co star of this movie making it convincing at all times. The plot is great, the movie moves at a nice pace with never a dull moment & the technicality of seeing what bodyguards are actually trained to do is awesome. Go & buy it, it's a great way to while away a couple of hours & you'll find yourself watching it over & over again.

Kevin Michael Costner is an American film actor & director who has often produced his own films. Born in Lynwood, California, Costner spent his teenage years & pre-actor adulthood in Orange County, California, graduating from Villa Park High School in Villa Park, California in 1973 & earning a B,A. in business from California State University, Fullerton in 1978. Costners most popular success was with the epic Dances with Wolves. He directed & starred in the film & served as one of two producers. The film was nominated for twelve Academy Awards & won seven, including two for him personally. A number of his film efforts after that success have been criticized for being too long & overly serious & for squandering financial resources. The science-fiction epics Waterworld & The Postman was both major disappointments at the box office. Costner was cast in the hit The Big Chill. He filmed several scenes which were planned as flashbacks, but they never made it to the final cut. He was the friend who committed suicide, the event around which the plot of the movie revolves. Whitney Elizabeth Houston is an American singer & actress. She was one of the most popular & successful singers of the 1980s & 1990s. Her mother is Grammy award winning gospel/R&B singer Cissy Houston & her cousin is Grammy Award winning pop singer Dionne Warwick. By age 11, Houston was performing as a soloist in the junior gospel choir at the New Hope Baptist church in Newark. As a teenager, she began accompanying her mother in concert. She was a backing singer with established acts, such as Chaka Khan & Lou Rawls, as well as the lead vocalist on the Michael Zager Bands single Lifes A Party. Somewhat bizarrely, Houstons first recording as a featured vocalist was with Bill Laswell s experimental jazz-funk ensemble Material ; their 1982 album One Down placed Houston alongside such avant-gardists as Archie Shepp & Fred Frith.
