Background Information: Cronos [Top] Cronos is a film made by Mexican director Guillermo del Toro in 1993 & starring American actor Ron Perlman, the first of many times the two have collaborated. In 1535, an alchemist builds an extraordinary mechanism encapsulated into a small golden device. The invention, designed to convey eternal life to its owner, survives its maker until 1997 when it shows up to an antiquarian. Fascinated with the strange device, Gris doesnt note that theres more than one person looking for it. The promise of eternal life has become an obsession to old & sick Mr. De la Guardia. Biography: Guillermo Del Toro [Top] Guillermo del Toro is a Mexican film director. Raised by his Catholic grandmother, del Toro was involved with filmmaking in his late teens. He executive produced his first feature in 1986, at the age of 21. Before that he spent nearly 10 years as a make-up designer & formed his own company, Necropia, in the early 80s. He also co-founded the Guadalajara-based Mexican film festival. Later on in his directing career, he formed his own production company, the Tequila Gang.
