The Polar Express is a 1985 childrens book, which was later made into a movie that was released on November 12, 2004. The book was written & illustrated by Chris Van Allsburg, a former professor at the Rhode Island School of Design. It tells the story of a young boy who on Christmas Eve journeys to the North Pole on a magical train known as the Polar Express. Eventually, he visits Santa Claus & is given a special present. The book is now widely considered to be a classic Christmas story for young children. It was praised for its detailed illustrations & calm, relaxing storyline. In 1986 it was awarded the Caldecott Medal for childrens literature. The film, directed by Robert Zemeckis, is entirely computer animated using a novel technology called performance capture to provide natural movement & expressions for the characters. It stars actor Tom Hanks in five distinct roles, including the 8-year-old protagonist. In addition to a standard theatrical format, a 3D version for IMAX was also released, generated from the same 3D digital models used for the standard version. Posters Of Polar Express

Had bought this film for the grandchildren to watch before christmas with me, their ages are nearly 5 & 3years, within 5 minutes the older child had run under bed to hide & the younger one stayed with it for 15 minutes more but then got very frightened & cried. i dont know what made them afraid as i could not see anything that was frightning in it. but something spooked them both & they wont watch it again. its a lovely film but not for very young children. maybe because the characters are not real to look at!

Thomas Jeffrey Hanks is an American actor famous for playing notable roles in many popular & critically acclaimed movies. He is well known for his acting ability & is able to play characters that range from the vulnerable Forrest Gump, to the inspirational lead in Philadelphia, to the never-say-die commander in Apollo 13. Hanks is generally known for his ability to imbue nice-guy roles with warmth, for example in the romantic comedy Sleepless in Seattle, but is quite capable of taking the role of a mob hitman in Road to Perdition. Hanks is currently one of the most sought-after leading men in Hollywood. His salary for two recent movies was USD$20 million each. His portrayal of the likeable lead in Forrest Gump earned him $70 million. Born in Concord, California, Hanks later studied theatre at California State University, Sacramento. He couldnt get cast in a college play so he auditioned for community theater instead. He was invited by the director of that play to go to Cleveland & it was there his acting career started.
