Jimi Hendrix - Feedback
Background Information: Jimi Hendrix [Top] James Marshall Jimi Hendrix was an American guitarist, singer, songwriter & producer who is widely considered to be the most important electric guitarist in the history of popular music. As a guitarist, he built upon the innovations of blues stylists such as B B King, Albert King, T-Bone Walker & Muddy Waters, as well as those of R&B guitarists like Curtis Mayfield. although previous guitarists, such as The Kinks Dave Davies & The Who s Pete Townshend, had employed feedback, distortion & other special effects as sonic tools, Hendrix, due to his grounding in blues, soul music & R&B, was able to use these devices in a way that transcended their sources. He was also an accomplished songwriter whose compositions have been covered by countless artists. As a record producer & musical architect, he was one of the first to use the recording studio as an extension of his musical ideas. Finally, his image as a rock star places him in the lineage of Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley & Mick Jagger. Posters Of Jimi HendrixConsumer DVD Review [Top] This fifty-four minute programme analyses Jimi's fame mainly through talking heads & a narration by Ben Davies, & excerpts from the film RAINBOW BRIDGE. Other footage is shown . What is refreshing is that the people interviewed are people that knew Jimi, but who rarely get screen time. Specifically, Melinda Meriwether, Ed Chalpin, Steve Roby, Tony Calder, Keith Altham, Geno Washington, Mark Singer, Chuck Wein, Gerry Stickles, & Alex Constantine. Much of the information discussed is not new, but it comes from people who knew Jimi. So I would recommend it.
The discussion of Jimi's death omits the evidence provided by the ambulance men who attended the scene, so it's disappointing that the people that knew Jimi didn't know about the new information uncovered concerning his death. And regarding the comments from A viewer - the sound of enamel on metal is unmistakable, & that's the sound you hear when Hendrix plays with his teeth. And look at the footage, he is playing with his teeth. If I can play with my teeth, I'm sure Hendrix could.
