The Devils Own
Background Information: The Devils Own [Top] The Devils Own is a 1997 movie starring Brad Pitt & Harrison Ford. Brad Pitt plays an Irish man who is a member of the IRA, while Harrison Ford plays the American man who agrees to host him in his home. Turmoil arises; however, Harrision Fords character slowly discovers Brad Pitts true identity. The movie ends with a surprise twist. THE DEVIL’S OWN, Alan J Pakulas last film, is a character-driven thriller that confronts suspense & gritty realism head-on. Harrison Ford plays Tom OMeara, an Irish-American cop in New York who opens his home & family to Francis Austin Frankie McGuire, whom they believe is a refuge-seeking immigrant from Belfast. They later discover that their visitor is an IRA rebel on a terrorist mission. Buoyed by tense, strong performances from both stars, the film is ultimately a tragedy that explores the unexpected friendship of two men of similar ethnic roots, yet of different places, times & values & the cruel & senseless cycle of violence they face.
