Consumer DVD Review

I have been fortunate to see the Electric band twice live. The first time was this, & in my opinion the best line up. I can't believe that a previous reviewer found the innovative & highly rated & renowned Frank Gambale's solos boring, even though each band member did long solos. What I enjoy about the band is the way the songs motifs are played in unison by both guitar & sax. Each member is given time & space to push the boundaries of the soloing. This dvd is an exellent record of the band doing what they do best & that is to play a tight & technical gig with a little audience participation thrown in.
Biography: Chick Corea
[Top]
Armando Anthony Chick Corea is an American jazz pianist & keyboardist who is arguably best known for his work during the 1970s in the genre of jazz fusion. Corea was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts. Supervised by his father Armando, a jazz trumpet player who had led a dixieland band in the 1930s, Chick began playing the piano at the age of four & drums at eight. The music he listened to & played, included the works of bebop stars such as Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Bud Powell, Horace Silver & Lester Young, as well as classical music of Beethoven & Mozart & others. The latter would help spark his interest in musical composition. After several years, he started taking lessons for concert pianist Salvatore Sulo & moved to New York where after brief visits to Columbia University & The Juilliard School he started his professional career. Corea started his professional career in the 60s playing with trumpeter Blue Mitchell & Latin greats such as Willie Bobo & Mongo Santamaria. Posters Of Mozart
