Background Information: Stripes [Top] Stripes is an American comedic movie starring Bill Murray, Harold Ramis & Warren Oates. The director was Ivan Reitman. Stripes also featured several actors first significant movie roles, including John Larroquette, Sean Young & Judge Reinhold. It also was one of John Candy s earliest appearances. The movie is dated in some ways, as it is set in Cold War Europe, but the humor is generally based on broader concepts that are still amusing. One thing that makes the movie distinctive, is that it is sort of two movies in one; the first part is set in boot camp, while the latter part shows their first mission. Biography: Bill Murray [Top] William James Murray is an American comedian, producer, film director & actor. Bill was raised in Wilmette, Illinois & graduated from Loyola Academy. Murray initially rose to prominence as a cast member of & a writer for NBC s Saturday Night Live television series from 1977 to 1980. Most of his roles have been comedic, featuring Murrays dry wit. However, he has also played serious roles in films such as Mad Dog & Glory, The Razors Edge & Rushmore. He also garnered considerable acclaim as the lead in the 2003 film Lost in Translation. Murray is the fifth of nine children. John Murray, Joel Murray & Brian Doyle-Murray. All four Murray brothers appeared in the 1988 film Scrooged. Murray also has a long list of television & film appearances. The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou in 2004.

He performed with Chicagos Second City improvisational comedy troupe & the Broadway revue National Lampoon s Lemmings. Ramis was also a writer & performer on the SCTV television series. Although occasionally mistaken for a Canadian, Ramis is actually from Chicago, Illinois, USA. He has worked frequently with Bill Murray & Ivan Reitman.
