Broken Flowers is a 2005 drama / comedy film directed, written & produced by Jim Jarmusch. It stars Bill Murray, Jeffrey Wright, Jessica Lange, Sharon Stone, Frances Conroy & Julie Delpy. It opened August 5, 2005 in limited release. In 2005 Cannes Film Festival, the film was nominated for Golden Palm Award & won Grand Prize of the Jury. The film is dedicated to French director Jean Eustache. In an interview, Jarmusch said he felt close to Eustache for his commitment to making films in a unique & independent fashion. Tagline. Sometimes life brings some strange surprises. // The main character, Don Johnston, receives an anonymous letter, supposedly from an unnamed former girlfriend informing him that he has a 19-year-old son who may be looking for him. At the same time, his current girlfriend Sherry moves out. Don has lived the life of an archetypal womanizer, a Don Juan & any one of several former girlfriends may have written the letter. Lost in Translation is a motion picture. It was the second writing & directorial effort of Sofia Coppola & starred Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson, Giovanni Ribisi & Anna Faris. Everyone wants to be found. At the surface, Lost in Translation is a movie about culture shock between East & West, but this reveals itself as being metaphorical for the more important theme, the more general alienation or loneliness of individuals at certain stages in their lives, not necessarily in the modern world & about companionship. Bob Harris, is a US movie star on the downward slope of his career who has come to Tokyo, Japan, to film a Suntory whisky commercial. His marriage has cooled off decidedly—his wife calls frequently, not to actually talk to him, but to get his opinion on floor samples for remodeling. Harris finds himself in a city & culture beyond his comprehension for reasons that he has trouble remembering. Johansson is Charlotte, a recent philosophy graduate of Yale University, the wife of a Rolling Stone -type photographer on assignment in Tokyo.

William James Murray is an American comedian, producer, film director & actor. Bill was raised in Wilmette, Illinois & graduated from Loyola Academy. Murray initially rose to prominence as a cast member of & a writer for NBC s Saturday Night Live television series from 1977 to 1980. Most of his roles have been comedic, featuring Murrays dry wit. However, he has also played serious roles in films such as Mad Dog & Glory, The Razors Edge & Rushmore. He also garnered considerable acclaim as the lead in the 2003 film Lost in Translation. Murray is the fifth of nine children. John Murray, Joel Murray & Brian Doyle-Murray. All four Murray brothers appeared in the 1988 film Scrooged. Scarlett Johansson is an American actress. Johansson is of Danish & Polish descent & is 5 feet, 4 inches tall. The granddaughter of writer Ejner Johansson, she graduated from The Professional Childrens School in Manhattan, New York City in 2002. Her roles include Grace MacLean in The Horse Whisperer ; Rebecca in Ghost World ; Charlotte in Lost in Translation ; Griet in Girl with a Pearl Earring ; & Francesca in The Perfect Score. All of these performances garnered positive critical notice. She was nominated for two best actress awards at the Golden Globes in 2003, one for drama & one for comedy. She was also nominated for best actress for both of those films at the BAFTAs & won best actress for Lost in Translation. She is also the voice of Princess Mindy in The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie.
