Andromeda - Series 3
Background Information: Andromeda [Top] Gene Roddenberrys Andromeda is a science fiction television series, a posthumous creation of Gene Roddenberry. It stars Kevin Sorbo as High Guard Captain Dylan Hunt. The series premiered in the fall of 2000 & as of December 2004 was in its fifth & final season. At the start of the series the known universe is mostly part of the Systems Commonwealth, based from Tarn-Vedra & is quite a utopian society. However, one of the Commonwealths member species, the Nietzscheans, became disillusioned with the peace with the Magog & try to overthrow the Commonwealth. In the first battle, Dylan Hunt is forced to evacuate his crew, but his ship, the Andromeda Ascendant gets caught on the edge of a black hole s event horizon. Over 300 years later, a salvage crew rescues him. The Systems Commonwealth has fallen, leading to a dark age known as The Long Night. Biography: Lisa Ryder [Top] Lisa Ryder is a Canadian actress best known as Beka Valentine on the science fiction television series Gene Roddenberrys Andromeda. Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Ryder attended the University of Toronto, where he began acting. She formed a local theature group in Toronto after graduation & landed her first film & television roles in the mid- 1990s. She gained a following as Tracy Vetter on the final season of the science fiction drama Forever Knight in 1995 - 1996 & was cast on the syndicated science-fiction series Andromeda in 2000 ; the series is currently in its fifth season.
