Dukes Of Hazzard - Series 5
Background Information: Dukes Of Hazzard [Top] The Dukes of Hazzard is a American television series that originally aired on the CBS television network from 1979 to 1985. It was directed by Jack Starrett, following on from Starsky & Hutch. Starrett went on to direct Hill Street Blues. The show was loosely based on the movie Moonrunners & followed the adventures of two southern good ol boys Bo & Luke Duke living in an unincorporated area of the fictional Hazzard County, Georgia in their souped-up car the General Lee, as they evaded corrupt Boss Hogg & his inept county Sheriff Roscoe P Coltrane. Daisy Duke has the distinction of having her trademark provocatively high-cut jean short shorts named after her. Although Hazzard County, Georgia was a fictional location, the real-life town of Hazard, Kentucky was a beneficiary of the shows popularity. Members of the cast were frequent visitors to the towns annual Black Gold Festival. Hazzard County Sheriff Roscoe P Coltrane. Hazzard County Deputy Sheriff Enos Strate. Hazzard County Deputy Sheriff Cletus Hogg. The General Lee, a souped-up 1969 Dodge Charger. Posters Of Dukes Of HazzardConsumer DVD Review [Top] Despite Bo & Luke being absent for most episodes this season, it is actually a good season with Coy & Vance Duke. It has some excellent episodes such as Witness: Jesse Duke which is a brilliant episode & Denver Pyle as Uncle Jesse does some of his best acting & displays his great talent. Bo & Luke return for the last few episodes of season 5.
Boss Hogg & Rosco P. Coltrane provide some of the best humour & laughs of the entire series in season 5. Boss Hogg & Rosco are at their funniest this season, & they both continue to scheme against the Dukes. In the episode Farewell Hazzard Boss Hogg is hilarious when he wears wigs to impress a female developer! Bo & Luke try to save Hazzard from destruction when Boss Hogg joins forces with an unscrupulous developer to buy up the county to use it for mining. This is actually the storyline used in the new Dukes of Hazzard movie remake. Other great episodes include Hazzard Hustle where Boss Hogg opens a horse betting shop & fixes it so he gets the money & the Dukes get the blame but Coy & Vance use Daisy to beat Boss at his own game! Also, in a A Little Game of Pool Uncle Jesse loses the farm to Boss when Boss Hogg talks Jesse into betting the farm in a pool match Jesse can't possibly win! Another favourite episode is Welcome Back, Bo 'n' Luke where Bo & Luke help out Cooter who's in trouble. In the 100th episode of the series Coy Vs. Vance, Duke cousins Coy & Vance fight each other when a pair of motorcycle stuntwomen who double as highway robbers may be headed for a fall when one of them falls for Coy. In the great episode The Great Insurance Fraud Boss Hogg's phony insurance policies are thrown right back at him when con artists carry out a phony car accident at Bottomless Lake. This season 5 DVD box set is a must have for any Dukes of Hazzard fan so as to complete their Dukes DVD collection . The extras are Hazzard County Stunt Team: Reunited & in Your Face & Cooters Place: Keeping the Dream Alive. I definitely recommend this Dukes DVD as season 5 is still the same great show with drama, action, stunts, laughter & fun - Hazzard style! Biography: Byron Cherry [Top]
