Madagascar as a stand-alone feature was really an excellent example of modern cinema cartoons with the wonderful animation we have come to expect from the likes of toy story or moinsters inc. the real treat in this, however, are the vocal gymnastics of david schwimmer , chris rock & sacha baron cohen . somehow turning ross into an accident-prone giraffe was a master-stroke! beautiful, fun, lightweight entertainment which was just about perfect at 86mins & holds the attention right through.

the christmas caper features the skipper & his privates . i saw the featurette when i went to see 'the curse of the were-rabbit' & it was an enjoyable added extra. the penguins provided more than their fair-share of the humour in the film & here shine on their own for about 10mins. the zoo is celebrating christmas merrily, but the private notices the polar bear is rather sad & alone so he heads out to find a present, getting himself kidnapped in the process. the skipper leads his crack-team of pyromaniac penguins into action to save the private from a certain demise!

Ben Stiller is an American comedian, actor & film director. He is possibly best known for his roles in the films Meet the Parents & Theres Something About Mary. Stiller is son of Jerry Stiller & Anne Meara, who are both veteran comedians & actors themselves. He was born in New York, New York on November 30, 1965 & raised with frequent visits from his familys Hollywood friends. Stiller wrote & appeared on Saturday Night Live as a featured performer in 1990. He went on to host & perform in a self-titled comedy sketch show on MTV & then The Ben Stiller Show on the Fox Network in 1992. The show lasted 12 episodes, but is considered by many to be one of the finest sketch comedy vehicles on television. The show also starred his frequent collaborators Andy Dick, Janeane Garofalo & Bob Odenkirk. Stiller directed both Reality Bites & The Cable Guy, to generally mixed reviews. Chris Rock is an African-American comedian & actor born in Georgetown, South Carolina. He grew up, however in Bedford-Stuyvesant, in Brooklyn, New York. He was a cast member of the popular sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live from 1990 - 1993. His 1996 standup special Bring the Pain established him as one of the hottest comedians in Hollywood. The controversy around his 1997 routine Niggas vs Black People helped this rise to stardom. Bigger & Blacker in 1999 & most recently, Never Scared in 2004. HBO also aired his talk show, The Chris Rock Show. His comedy typically involves race relations in the United States, although he does a fair share of material on women.
