Goldfinger - Live At The House Of Blues
Background Information: Goldfinger [Top] Goldfinger is the seventh novel by Ian Fleming, featuring James Bond, secret agent 007, published in 1959. Later, it was adapted into a film starring Sean Connery & released in 1964 as the third entry of the James Bond film series. It is possibly the most famous of all the James Bond movies. The eponymous villain of the novel is Auric Goldfinger, the worlds top gold smuggler & a communist criminal working for the Soviet assassination agency SMERSH, who intends to finance their schemes by stealing the gold in Fort Knox, Kentucky. James Bond, along with Pussy Galore, Goldfingers amusingly named lesbian pilot, work to prevent the villain from executing his plan, which involves killing the soldiers of Fort Knox with a water-borne toxin. In terms of gadgets, this Fleming novel is closest to the Bond films technological underpinnings. The secret agent is issued a battleship grey Aston Martin DB3 with lethal accessories, as well as a homing device similar to that seen in the movie. Consumer DVD Review [Top] I have bought a few music dvds in the last few years, from bands like Marilyn Manson, Alkaline Trio, Reel Big Fish & Placebo, but in my opinion none of those dvds have such a lastibility like Goldfinger. I just wish these guys would get the credit they deserve as they are a bloody fantastic group.
Performed live at The House of Blues, the band gives an entertaining & memorable show at just under an hour, with songs like Here In Your Bedroom, Open Your Eyes & San Simeon really working the crowd into a frenzy. My favourites have to be Counting the Days, Superman & Mable has to be seen to be believed. By the time they close the show with their rendition of Nenas 99 Red Balloons, its like you wished you were right there. This DVD features 35 minutes of bonus footage with videos from Spokesman, San Simeon & Tell Me, a cover of Feel Like Makin Love, an animal rights video called Free Me & just stupid antics. The gem of the whole thing is the bands commentary which is bloody hilarious, particularly from John Feldmann & Darrin Pfeiffer. They may jump around like Busted & McFly but this one band that does one hell of performance! Buy It Now!!
