Background Information: Cannonball [Top] Cannonball is a 1976 film starring David Carradine. The film is one of two released in 1976 that were based on a real illegal cross-continent road race that took place for a number of years in the United States. The same topic later became the basis for the films The Cannonball Run & Cannonball Run II. The movie was written & directed by Paul Bartel, who also directed Death Race 2000. The name of the film & the plot were inspired by Erwin G Cannon Ball Baker,, who travelled across the USA several times & by the Cannonball Baker Sea-To-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash, an illegal cross-continent road race introduced by Brock Yates to protest against the 55 MPH speed limit. The Trans-America Grand Prix is an illegal race held every year between Los Angeles, California & New York, New York. David Carradine plays a recently released convict, Cannonball Buckman, trying to restart his automobile racing career by entering the race.
Biography: John Alderman [Top] Praying Indian who shot & killed King Philip in 1676 as part of an expedition lead by Captain Benjamin Church. As a reward, Alderman received Kink Philips head & one hand. The rest of his body was quartered & hung on trees. Alderman later sold the severed head to the Plymouth authorities for 30 shillings, a standard rate for Indian heads during King Philips War. The head was then placed on a stake in Plymouth where it remained for the next 25 years.

He is an American actor, writer & director & is well known for his 1982 hit black comedy Eating Raoul, which he wrote, starred in & directed. He has appeared in a lot of films, his other well known appearances were in the 1975 cult film Death Race 2000 which he also directed & the 1979 cult classic Rock n Roll High School along side Eating Raoul co-star Mary Woronov. He has made many guest appearances in many tv shows. Sadly on May 13, 2000, Paul Bartel died of a heart attack which was caused by liver cancer. Paul Bartel at the Internet Movie Database.
