Waynes World / Waynes World 2
Background Information: Waynes World [Top] Waynes World is a 1992 comedy film starring Mike Myers & Dana Carvey as hosts of a cable access television show from Aurora, Illinois. The movie was adapted from a popular skit of the same name on NBC s Saturday Night Live. It was directed by Penelope Spheeris & also featured Rob Lowe & Tia Carrere. Wayne & Garths hobbies included playing Hockey in the street, hanging out at Stan Mikita s doughnut shop & catching hot local bands at Gas Works, a hard rock club in Aurora. A possible explanation of the naming of the coffee shop Stan Mikitas is found under the section for Tim Hortons. The movie was filled with pop culture references & started a few of their own. Catch phrases like Not! & Excellent! aided the slacker lingo of Generation X as Bill & Teds Excellent Adventure did in 1989. Its multiple endings & the use of the camera as a character have been noted in film studies. The opening sequence to Queen s Bohemian Rhapsody propelled the song to #2 in Billboard singles charts nearly 20 years after its first release. Background Information: Waynes World 2 [Top]
