Background Information: Foyles War

Foyles War is a British detective television series, created & written by Anthony Horowitz & broadcast on ITV. The episodes are set during the Second World War in England, where Inspector Foyle attempts to catch criminals who are taking advantage of the confusion the war has created. He is assisted by his driver Sam & his Sergeant, Paul Milner. Each episode runs for around 100-105 minutes, filling a two-hour slot including commercials. The stories are largely self-contained though there are some running strands, mainly involving the career of Foyles son Andrew in the Royal Air Force. Series 1, set in Spring/Summer 1940. Shown Autumn 2002. Series 2, set in Autumn 1940. Shown Autumn 2003. Series 3, set early 1941. Shown Autumn 2004.

Michael Kitchen is an English actor. As of 2005, he is starring in the television series Foyles War. Other roles include Martin in the original production of Brimstone & Treacle ; Edmund in the BBC Television Shakespeare production of King Lear ; Antipholus & Antipholus in the same series production of The Comedy of Errors ; the King of England in To Play the King ; & a recurring role as Bill Tanner in the Pierce Brosnan Bond movies.
