Kramer vs. Kramer is a 1979 film which tells the story of a divorce & its impact on everyone involved, including the couples young son. In the film, a mans wife leaves to find herself; the man adjusts to living alone & caring for his son; & then the woman returns & a battle over custody of the son ensues. It stars Dustin Hoffman, Meryl Streep, Jane Alexander, Justin Henry, Howard Duff, George Coe & JoBeth Williams. The movie was adapted by Robert Benton from the novel by Avery Corman & directed by Benton. It won Academy Awards for Best Actor in a Leading Role, Best Actress in a Supporting Role, Best Director, Best Picture & Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium.
