Monster-in-Law is a 2005 romantic comedy film, directed by Robert Luketic. It marks a return to cinema for Jane Fonda ; her first film in 15 years. // Charlie is a dogwalker from Venice Beach, California, who meets surgeon Kevin. Kevin asks her out & Charlie believes that shes finally found the right man. Things start to go wrong when Kevin introduces Charlie to his mom, Viola. Viola has recently been replaced as a newscaster for someone younger & is in meltdown. Loathing Charlie from the outset & fearing that shell lose her son the same way she lost her career, she decides to destroy her sons relationship, with the help of her long-time assistant Ruby. She met the perfect man. Then she met his mother. Jennifer Lopez — Charlotte Charlie Cantilini. The movie received rather modest reviews, but the $43-million movie became a box-office success. This was considered good news for Jennifer Lopez, for this is her second box-office hit following the notorious failure Gigli.

As an esteemed television journalist put out to pasture by the networks & faced with the engagement of her son, Jane Fonda is fierce, funny, & ready to rumble as the title character in Monster-in-Law in a way that the rest of the film itself never really is. Jennifer Lopez, the films other above-the-title star, is set to marry handsome, wealthy Michael Vartan but has a hell of a time dealing with his insanely possessive mother. The result is pretty much what youd expect, lots of snarls & slapstick & an easy, kisses-all-around conclusion, though it is surprising to watch Fonda throw herself into such disposable comedy with such gusto. Director Robert Luketic, who slept while Reese Witherspoon tottered off with his Legally Blonde, once again relies solely on the assembled talent: He leaves a high-wattage Lopez playing things a little too cute, a reedy Vartan looking visibly disinterested, & canny comedian Wanda Sykes making what she can, which, luckily, is a lot, of her role as Fondas wisecracking personal assistant . See it for Fonda, if you feel like it, then wish her a better engagement in the future.

Jane Seymour Fonda is an Academy Award winning American actress, model, writer, producer, activist & philanthropist. Born December 21, 1937, in New York City, to actor Henry Fonda & socialite Frances Seymour Brokaw. She was named after Lady Jane Seymour, the third wife of King Henry VIII. Janes socialite mother, after voluntarily seeking help at an asylum, committed suicide by cutting her throat on October 1950, when Jane was 12 years old. Henry married actress Susan Blanchard eight months later & throughout their six-year marriage, Blanchard helped to raise Jane & her brother, Peter. Her first husband was French film director Roger Vadim with whom she had a daughter, Vanessa, named for Vanessa Redgrave, the well-known actor & activist member of the Workers Revolutionary Party. Her second husband was author & politician Tom Hayden, by whom she has a son, Troy Garity & an adopted daughter. Her third husband was American cable-television tycoon Ted Turner.
