Swept Away is a 2002 romantic comedy film directed by Guy Ritchie & starring Madonna, Adriano Giannini & Bruce Greenwood. The film is a remake of the 1974 Italian film Swept Away by an Unusual Destiny in the Blue Sea of August. The movie was a commercial failure & did so badly in the United States that it was not released in theatres in the United Kingdom but went straight to video. Worst Screen Couple for Madonna & Adriano Giannini. In addition, Adriano Giannini was nominated for, but did not win, Worst Actor. It was the first film to win both Worst Picture & Worst Remake or Sequel. // Amber Leighton is a rich, spoiled & arrogant woman, invited on a private cruise from Greece to Italy by her husband Tony. A storm leaves Amber on a desert island, together with the ships first mate Giuseppe, a communist sailor who she eventually falls in love with. Adriano Giannini reprised the role his father Giancarlo Giannini played in the original film. Amber Leighton is the maiden name of the mother of the director, Guy Ritchie. Posters Of Swept Away

I recently saw Swept Away & I was expecting a to sit through an excrutiating experience as all the reviews Id read were fiercely negative. I just dont understand because I actually enjoyed the movie very much, Madonnas acting is actually pretty good & the story is original, its not a masterpiece but a thoroughly entertaining movie, I actually think that some people in the media thought it was time for a Madonna backclash!
