Background Information: Cheaper By The Dozen [Top] Cheaper by the Dozen is a book by Frank Bunker Gilbreth, Jr. & Ernestine Gilbreth Carey that tells the story of motion study & efficiency experts Frank Bunker Gilbreth & Lillian Moller Gilbreth & their twelve children. it often happened that when he & it family were out driving & stopped at a red light, a pedestrian would ask Hey, Mister! How come you got so many kids? Gilbreth would pretend to ponder the question carefully & then, just as the light turned green, would say Well, they come cheaper by the dozen, you know & drive off. Other humorous incidents recounted in the book include a neighbor campaigning for birth control, who was flabbergasted when all twelve children lined up on signal & a motion study of tonsillectomy which produced no results because the photographer forgot to remove the lens cap. Cheaper by the Dozen was made into a 1950 motion picture starring Clifton Webb & Myrna Loy as Frank & Lillian Gilbreth. A remake Cheaper by the Dozen was produced in 2003, starring comedians Steve Martin & Bonnie Hunt. Background Information: Mrs Doubtfire [Top] Mrs. Doubtfire is a 1993 comedy movie based on the novel Alias Madame Doubtfire by Anne Fine. It was directed by Chris Columbus & distributed by 20th Century Fox. Daniel Hillard/Mrs. Euphegenia Doubtfire – Robin Williams. Christopher Hillard – Matthew Lawrence. Uncle Frank Hillard – Harvey Fierstein. Williams plays Daniel Hillard, an out-of-work actor whose interior decorator wife Miranda wants a divorce. Since Daniel has no steady source of income, Miranda will get primary custody of their three children & Daniel will only have limited visitation rights. Miranda places an advert for a housekeeper & gets a surprising response – a large number of unsuitable applicants. Daniel had decided that the best way to spend more time with his children was to become the ideal housekeeper. He first makes it difficult for Miranda by voicing the unsuitable people & finally presents the perfect applicant, giving the name Mrs. Doubtfire after reading the news headline Police Doubt Fire Was Accidental.
Biography: Bonnie Hunt [Top] Bonnie Hunt is an American actress, comedian, writer & television producer. Hunt was born in Chicago, Illinois, one of seven children. For a while, Hunt worked as a cancer nurse at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. In the mid 1980s, Hunt cofounded An Impulsive Thing, a three woman improvisational comedy troupe, with Holly Wortell & Joan Cusack. The women performed regularly in Chicago. Hunt also performed as a member of The Second City. Hunt turned down multiple opportunities to become a cast member of Saturday Night Live, because the shows producers generally frown on improvisation on the show. In 1992, Hunt turned down a higher paying role on Designing Women to costar in Davis Rules with Jonathan Winters & Audrey Meadows. Hunt was also offered Helen Hunt s role on Mad About You, but turned that down as well. In 1993, Hunt teamed up with David Letterman to produce The Building for CBS. The sitcom was modeled after early 1950s television shows. The show was also filmed live; mistakes, accidents & forgotten lines were often left in the aired episode.

Martin worked at the Bird Cage Theater in Knotts Berry Farm & at the Magic Shop at Disneyland as a teenager, where he developed his talents for magic, juggling, playing the banjo & creating balloon animals. Martin majored in philosophy at California State University, Long Beach, but dropped out. A girlfriend helped him get his first real job in 1967, as a comedy writer on The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, the show she was on as a dancer. Martin, along with the other writers for that show, won an Emmy Award in 1969. Martin also wrote for John Denver & The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour. The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour from 1972 to 1973,. He appeared at San Francisco s The Boarding House among other locations. He continued to write, earning an Emmy nomination for his work on Van Dyke & Company in 1975. In the mid- 1970s he made frequent appearances as a stand-up comedian on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.
