Blade / Blade 2 / Blade: Trinity
Background Information: Blade [Top] Blade is a vampire movie adapted from a comic book. It stars Wesley Snipes & Kris Kristofferson. It was directed by Stephen Norrington. Snipes plays the character of Blade, a half-man, half-vampire who becomes the protector of humans against the vampires. It spawned a sequel, Blade II released in 2002. Trinity, was released in December 2004. The movie features Traci Lords, the former pornographic actress, as Racquel, a vampire who is shown covered in blood in one notable scene. The character Blade was created in 1973 for Marvel Comics by writer Marv Wolfman & artist Gene Colan & was a supporting character in the 1970s comic Tomb of Dracula. In the comic, Blades mother was bitten by vampire Deacon Frost while she was in labor with Blade. Thus Blade was born as a dhampir, a human with vampire genes. In the comic Blade was a normal human for most purposes except that he wore shaded goggles, presumably to protect against bright light. Blades initial mission was to avenge his mothers death & in his quest he would fight many vampires including Dracula. Background Information: Blade 2 [Top] Blade II is a 2002 vampire action movie starring Wesley Snipes & Kris Kristofferson. It was directed by Guillermo del Toro. The movie introduces new characters including a new sidekick & a group of blade hunting vampires called the bloodpack. The 2 disc dvd features a number of interesting features on the making of the film as well as some easter eggs. Faster. Sharper. Deadlier. Background Information: Trinity [Top] Trinity is a fictional character in The Matrix universe, played by actress Carrie-Anne Moss in the films The Matrix, The Matrix Reloaded & The Matrix Revolutions. Prior to her awakening, she is a hacker who was infamous for hacking the Internal Revenue Service database. She is brought together with Neo, by The Oracle, due to the Oracles prediction that Trinity would fall in love with the One. Neo, initially unaware of this prediction, succeeds in transcending the fabricated world that is the Matrix after the prophecy is fulfilled. Neo & Trinity become lovers, but Trinity is killed in the crash of a ship she was piloting just before Neos triumph over Agent Smith.
Consumer DVD Review [Top] Id only seen the first one but had read up on the other two & am a fan of Ryan Ryenolds.
Each of the three movies has something special to offer through cast, plot & action. Wesley Snipes is amazing lead & the character Blade is dark, mysterious & likeable as a half-vampire struggling with the bloodlust & his war against the vampires. In the first movie the female lead Karen played by NBush Wright is a tough, independent, amiable character, a doctor drawn into the world of vampires having suffered the bite of one. She strives to find the cure for vampirism & also a cure for Blade & makes a useful ally to Blade & Whistler. Stephen Dorff adeptly performs the part of lead villian Deacon Frost, a human turned vampire who is fed up with being viewed as inferior by the pure bred vampires & has plans to rank number one in the future. The second movie is not without its charm having the humourous character of Scudd & the romantic influence of Nyssa the pure blooded vampire. In this movie Blade must join forces with the vampires because of the threat of Reaper vampires who feed on vampires but could become a large threat to vampires. The romance is downplayed keeping the movie the way it should be- filled with action, suspense & excellent twists. The third movie features Blade teaming up with former vampire Hannibal King & Whistlers arrow shooting daughter Abigail. King provides the humour & together they provide awesome action & a great story line with their fellow vampire hunters. Drake & Danica are the male & female vampire villians & make a strong, believable team. The box set itself offers good special features also. Biography: Stephen Dorff [Top]
