Background Information: Ice Age
[Top]
Ice Age is a feature-length computer-animated film created by Blue Sky Studios & released by 20th Century Fox in 2002. It was directed by Carlos Saldanha & Chris Wedge from a story by Michael J Wilson. The characters are all prehistoric animals with the exception of some non-speaking early humans. The animals can talk to & understand each other & are voiced by a variety of famous actors. After an attack by a pack of smilodons a camp of neandertal humans try to protect their women & children. Jumping into a raging river with her baby, one woman is dragged downstream. She manages to place the infant on an embankment but is too drained to climb out of the water herself. Soto orders Diego to find the baby & bring it to him alive. Meanwhile the animals are all trying to avoid the coming ice age by retreating to warmer climates. Left by his family, Sid, a clumsy Sloth, is rescued from two rhinoceroses by Manfred, one of the last remaining mammoths. Not wanting to be alone Sid follows Manfred, much to the mammoths annoyance. Well, to put it simply, this film is theperfect family film. It has all the necessary qualities: laughter, a good plot, & loveable characters. It focus mainly on a mammoth, who gets stuck with a very annoying sloth, called sid. Together, they head the oppposite way from migration, & on their travels come accross a baby. With some persuasion from sid, & an eventual deal Manfred the mammoth helps sid return the baby to his dad & his group, before the snow gets too deep. The deal was that if manfred helped sid, the sloth would have to leave manfred alone. But films cannot be complete without a good old bad guy, even in these types of films. Diego is a fierce sabre-tooth tiger, who was appointed the task of kidnapping the baby from sid & manfred & taking it back to his pack where it would be eaten. Diego ends up leading the two into a trap, but saves them at the last minute, when he spills all. Scart, a prehistoric squirrel-rat, is ADORABLE!!!!!!!! i think that he makes the movie worth watching. He is forever trying to find a place to bury his beloved acorn for the winter, no matter what it takes. Overall this is a fun packed ride & i recommend it to EVERYONE who likes a break :)
Biography: Denis Leary

Denis Leary is an actor / comedian / writer / director whose father immigrated to Worcester, Massachusetts from Ireland. He is a graduate of Emerson College in Boston, where he also taught comedy writing classes for five years after graduating. Leary is a distant cousin through marriage of Conan OBrien ; contrary to popular belief, they are not actually related through a recent common ancestor. Leary first became famous through an MTV sketch in which he ranted about REM. No Cure for Cancer & Lock n Load. No Cure for Cancer was written with contributions from the English comedians Frank Skinner & David Baddiel when Leary was forced to stay over in London for a short period due to his sons premature birth there & ensuing health problems. In 1994, his sardonic commentary song on the American lower-middle-class male, Asshole, achieved much notoriety. It was voted #1 in a major Australian youth radio poll, the Triple J Hottest 100 & the video became a late-night MTV staple. Posters Of Ice Age
