The Clan of the Cave Bear is a historical fiction novel by Jean M Auel. It is the first in the series known as Earths Children & investigates the possibility of Neanderthals & humans living at the same time. The protagonist is a young Cro-Magnon girl named Ayla. She is orphaned in a earthquake & subsequently adopted into a band of Neanderthals who think of themselves as part of an overarching group, the titular Clan of the Cave Bear. The novel attempts to create the effect of kairosis from Aylas attempts at assimilation into the alien culture of the neandertal Clan. Ayla embodies the Stranger in a Strange Land, acting as our emissary to terra incognita. he is vastly more gifted than other mog-ur s within the greater Clan in his ability to connect with ancestral spirits & knowledge. The Clan is the Darwinian apex of a communal society, with gender & class roles cemented not only by custom, but by physical, mental & spiritual adaptation. Posters Of Clan Of The Cave Bear

This film is truly awful! I am a great fan of Jean M. Auel, she must cringe every time someone mentions the film to her. It does the book NO justice at all. The only thing it gets right is that Daryl Hannah does look like Ayla, but not worth watching the film for, Sorry to disappoint, but believe me, you will be more disappointed if you sit through the film.

Daryl Christine Hannah is a popular American actress. She was born in Chicago, Illinois & attended the University of Southern California. She made her film debut in 1978, in Brian De Palma s horror movie The Fury. Her other memorable roles include the Replicant Pris in Ridley Scott s Blade Runner, the mermaid Madison in Ron Howard s fantasy Splash, the title role in Fred Schepisi s movie Roxanne & the giantess Nancy in Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, for which she was also co-producer.
