Background Information: London Rock And Roll Show [Top] The London Rock & Roll Show was a 1973 British -produced concert film chronicling a Rock & Roll Revival concert held at Wembley Stadium in London, England in August 1972. From the late 1960s to the early 1970s, many rock & roll performers from the 1950s experienced major career revivals due to a temporary upswing of interest in their form of music. The Revival was marked by a series of major concerts in the United States & also spread to Europe where events such as the Wembley concert attracted thousands of fans who came out to see the performers behind the music. London Rock & Roll Show begins with excerpts from numerous warm-up performers shown singing either covers of 1950s hits, or original tunes, including a performance by Screaming Lord Sutch that threatens to end the concert prematurely when he brings a stripper on stage. The main concert segment begins with Bo Diddley & continues with a string of other major performers including Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard & Bill Haley & His Comets.

The beat has been used by many other artists, notable Johnny Otis on Willie & the Hand Jive, which is more about hambone than it is a direct copy of Bo Diddley & Buddy Holly s Not Fade Away as well as more obscure numbers such as Callin All Cows by the Blues Rockers.

He was born David Edward Sutch on November 10, 1940. In the 1960s, inspired by one of his favourite rocknroll stars, Screamin Jay Hawkins, he changed his name by deed poll to Screaming Lord Sutch, 3rd Earl of Harrow, despite the fact that he had no connection with the peerage. Following a successful career as an early-60s pop music attraction, it became customary for the UK press & citizens to refer to him as Screaming Lord Sutch, or simply Lord Sutch.
