Predator is a 1987 science fiction movie that was directed by John McTiernan & released on Friday, June 12. It featured actors Arnold Schwarzenegger, Carl Weathers, Bill Duke, Sonny Landham, Elpidia Carrillo, Richard Chaves & Jesse Ventura. Energetic & full of machismo, the movie was successful enough to generate a sequel, Predator 2, in 1990. The mission began when 5 US Special Forces soldiers lead by Major Dutch Schaeffer are ordered to rescue a Guatemalan cabinet minister who has been captured by guerrilla forces after his helicopter crashed in the jungle across the border. Along with CIA man Dillon the team are dropped behind the border & began looking for traces of the minister & his escort. Instead they find the crashed chopper, which appeared to be a reconnaissance bird rather than transport, as well as traces of a dozen rebels being followed by several men with American equipment. Later on the mission, they also discovered three dead US soldiers hanging from trees, all of them mutilated horribly.

Predator 2 is a science fiction movie starring Danny Glover, sequel to the successful Predator. It was comparatively poorly received. It is revealed in this movie that government Black Ops have been following encounter sites of the titular alien Predator-race, trying to find out more about them; theyve figured out the pattern that Predators tend to stage their hunts on Earth anywhere that its very hot & that has armed fighting taking place. the Predators look for a region of fighting, searching for prey that has proved its prowess in fighting; for example, a human hunter would want to hunt the largest alpha-male buck lion it could find. Thus, the Predator in the first film hunted in a rain forest filled with guerilla -wars because it was in the middle of a swealteringly hot jungle & because mercenary & commando forces were fighting there. It then observed a battle between US commandos led by Dutch & proceeded to hunt Dutch as his prize. The government Black Ops unit theorized that Predators come from an environment with a much higher temperature, thus explaining this preference.

I knew if I waited long enough that 20th Century Fox would release these movies that the DVD age could be proud of. Predator is one of the best sci-fi thriller flicks around, better then The Matrix Trilogy! Predator is packed full of special features that where long overdue. Theres an Easter Egg feature on the second DVD in this set but i wont ruin it for you. One of Arnies best films, next to T2 & Commando. Predator 2 which i nickmaned Urban Jungle doesnt deliver as well as the original did but its still a good film to watch. This is also packed with special features on 2-discs. 4 DVDs in total, its worth a buy!

Nicknamed The Austrian Oak in his body-building days & more recently The Governator, Schwarzenegger as a young man gained widespread attention as a highly successful bodybuilder & later gained worldwide fame as a Hollywood action film star. Bill Duke is an American actor & director. Born in Poughkeepsie, New York, Duke received his first instruction in the performing arts at Boston University. After also studying at New York University s Tisch School of Arts & the American Film Institute, Duke began his career behind the camera, directing episodes of several noteworthy 1980s television series, including Hill Street Blues & Miami Vice. Standing an imposing 64 & featuring a closely shaved head, Duke became a familiar face to moviegoers after portraying tough guys alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in Commando & Predator, as well as the memorable police chief in Carl Weathers action vehicle Action Jackson. Returning to the directors chair, Duke began directing feature-length films in the 1990s with crime dramas A Rage in Harlem & Deep Cover. He also directed The Cemetary Club & the well-received Sister Act 2, starring Whoopi Goldberg. Duke continues to act & direct for both the small & silver screens.
