Long Way Round is the title of the book, television series & cd publicising the journey of Ewan McGregor & Charley Boorman from London to New York on motorcycles. From mid-April to the end of July 2004, they travelled from London to New York, via central Europe, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Siberia & Canada, for a cumulative distance of 18,887 miles. The only sections of the trip not undertaken by motorcycle were 580 miles by train in Siberia, due to lack of roads & a 2505 mile flight from Magadan, Siberia to Anchorage, Alaska.

Long Way Round is a documentary detailing the 20,000-mile motorcycle trip Ewan McGregor took around the world with best friend Charley Boorman over 115 days. Their trip took them from London through locales such as Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Siberia, & Canada, to name a few, before ending in New York.

Armed with a cameraman, McGregor & Boorman encounter separation anxiety from their families; a shifty stranger who leads them through winding dark corridors to a posh hotel room; delays at international borders; hosts who offer them animal parts for dinner; injuries, equipment breakdowns, & more.

The pair also film their own video diaries, in which they voice concerns & frustrations. The result is an emotional, rich breadth of experiences, from the hardship of logistical setbacks paired with the joy of visiting the children of Chernobyl & encountering hospitable locals who insist on escorting them wherever they go. McGregor & Boorman also make witty emcees, cheerfully upbeat even when they wonder aloud if one of their gun-happy hosts is a psycho murderer. The seven-episode series concludes with their emotional ride into the Big Apple & some surprises for the pair courtesy of the shows producers.

Long Way Round may have been an arduous once-in-a-lifetime experience, but you cant help but hope McGregor & Boorman suit up for another road trip someday. ,

Charley Boorman, is an English actor & the son of movie director John Boorman & his wife, the former Christel Kruse. Charleys sisters are Katrine Boorman, Telsche Boorman & Daisy Boorman. Charley Boorman took part in a world wide motorcycle trip with his best friend, actor Ewan McGregor in 2004. This was recorded, then later made into a successful television series, book & DVD. Ewan Gordon McGregor is a Scottish film actor who has had significant success in both mainstream & art house movies. // McGregor attended Kirkaldy College 1988/1989 to study drama appearing in several roles there & appearing in the Tron Theatre, Glasgow at the end of term. McGregor came to prominence through his role as the heroin addict Mark Renton in the film version of Irvine Welsh s Trainspotting. This role immediately followed his movie debut performance in Danny Boyle s 1994 film Shallow Grave. McGregor has also been featured as the male romantic lead in Hollywood films such as Moulin Rouge! & Down With Love & in the British film Little Voice. He received excellent reviews for his performance as an amoral drifter mixed up in murder in the rather bleak indie British film Young Adam, which co-starred the acclaimed British actress Tilda Swinton.
