Background Information: Planet Of The Apes

Planet of the Apes is a novel by Pierre Boulle, originally published in French as La Plančte des Singes & also translated as Monkey Planet. Planet of the Apes, directed by Franklin J Schaffner & starring Charlton Heston. Planet of the Apes, directed by Tim Burton & starring Mark Wahlberg. There was also a television series & several comic books based on the movies. In the Planet of the Apes,   serves as a political leader & the Defender of the Faith in Ape Society.   Planet of the Apes is an example of social commentary through dystopia. It is currently the most famous example of a genre that had an unexpected origin. When the historian Thomas Macaulay reviewed Leopold von Ranke s The Ecclesiastical & Political History of the Popes, he imagined in the far future the figure of a cultivated Maori New Zealander arriving to survey a future London in ruins, like the 18th century excursions of Wood & Dawkins, of Stuart & Revett at Baalbek or Palmyra.

Charlton Heston, born John Charles Carter, is an American film actor noted for heroic roles. Later in his life, Heston became famous as a conservative activist, especially as president of the National Rifle Association. Heston was born in Evanston, Illinois to Lila Charlton & Russell Whitford Carter. The family settled in rural Saint Helen, Michigan, where Heston, an only child, spent much of his time reading & practicing acting. Before he was 10 his parents divorced. Some years later, his mother married Chester Heston. The new family moved Winnetka, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, where young Heston attended high school. He enrolled in the schools drama program, where he performed with such outstanding results that he earned a scholarship to Northwestern University for drama in 1942. There he played in the 16mm amateur film adaptation of Peer Gynt made by a fellow student. Several years later the same team produced Julius Caesar, in which Heston played Marc Antony. Linda Harrison is an American model & actress born in Berlin, Maryland. She is best known for her role as Nova in the 1968 movie Planet of the Apes & its 1970 sequel Beneath the Planet of the Apes. She also had a guest appearance in Tim Burtons 2001 remake Planet of the Apes. She was married to the film producer Richard D,Zanuck from 1968 to 1978. She is also the first actress to play a live action version of Wonder Woman, which she did in a failed 1967 pilot for a Wonder Woman TV series. Wonder Woman.
