Background Information: Green Day [Top] Green Day is an American punk rock band consisting of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt & Tre Cool. At the age of 12, Tré Cool became a member of the band The Lookouts. Their album attracted some attention & Tré began performing at an early age at the Berkeley, California punk club 924 Gilman Street. In 1987, Armstrong & Dirnt formed The Sweet Children, with Armstrong on lead vocals & guitar & Dirnt on bass & backing vocals. They began playing in 1988 at Rods Hickory Pit in Rodeo, California. In 1989, the Children renamed themselves Green Day, after their first semi-successful song. They soon added Al Sobrante & went looking for a record deal. While in 1988 & 1989 Armstrong formed Green Day & The Sweet Children & started touring for the first time with all the albums on tour like in Atlanta, part of L,A. New York & Canada. The Lookouts were performing on punk label Lookout! Records, headed by Lookouts lead Lawrence Livermore. Green Day signed with Lookout in 1989 & released their first EP, 1,000 Hours & Slappy in 1990. Directed by Samuel Bayer, director of all the videos of American Idiot, Bullet In A Bible documents the two biggest shows that Green Day headlined in their career, playing to over 65,000 people at the Milton Keynes National Bowl in the UK on 18 & 19 June earlier in the year. Despite having twenty songs in their live repertoire, Green Day elected to include only fourteen performances on this release. Released during a period of high public acceptance, Bullet in a Bible reached #6 in the UK & debuted at #8 in the US. The name Bullet in a Bible was derived from Green Days visit to the Imperial War Museum while in England, viewing a bullet lodged in a Bible that saved the owners life. All songs by Billie Joe Armstrong, except where noted. Features an excerpt from Always Look on the Bright Side of Life, originally featured in Monty Pythons Life of Brian.
Consumer DVD Review [Top] I'd jut like to say that i am a huge greenday fan & i think that the dvd 'bullet in a bible'has got to be one of their best dvd/album. the live music videos of the album are really amazing & they are really good . ;D
