Background Information: Alien Resurrection
[Top]
Alien: Resurrection is the fourth movie in the Alien series, preceded by Alien, Aliens & Alien³. Resurrection takes place 200 years after the events of Alien³. Ellen Ripley has been cloned using blood samples from Fiorina 161, on ice so that the United Systems Military can extract the alien queen embryo that was inside her from Alien³. It is not explained exactly how the aliens DNA would have been mixed with Ripleys in order to allow this to take place. After eight tries, the scientists manage to recreate a Ripley with a viable Alien inside of her. Of the former seven tries, all apparent failures, six of them are deceased & are contained in fluid-filled preservative chambers, while the seventh, horribly deformed, remains alive to be discovered & mercifully killed by Ripley later in the film. A new capacity of the aliens is revealed in this film, being their ability to transfer memory genetically. It is this capacity that allows the resurrected Ripley to retain memories of her former self. Posters Of Alien Resurrection

I can understand how some people seem to hate this film when comparing it to the first two films, but as a film in itself its quite entertaining & perfectly watchable. I have seen it a few times now, & I am entertained by the film each time, & can watch it from start to finish without any complaint. If youre going to be pedantic & say But its rubbish compared to the first two! fine, dont watch this, only watch the first two! But if you dont mind just watching a film for its entertainment value , then this is a perfectly good romp.

Biography: Winona Ryder
[Top]
Winona Ryder is an American actress born on October 29, 1971 in Winona, Minnesota to Michael & Cindy Horowitz. She was named after her birthplace. Notable family friends included her godfather Timothy Leary & Beat poet Allen Ginsberg. When she was 7 years old she & her family resided at a commune in Elk, California, where they lived with 7 other families on a 300 acre plot of land. As the area had no electricity Ryder took to reading, particularly appreciating the novel Catcher in the Rye. Her mother did however show her some films on a screen in the barn, which perhaps lead her to develop an interest in what would later make up her career. At age 10 the family moved again to Petaluma, Sonoma County, California. She was harassed her first week of junior high school there when a group of bullies mistook her for a feminine, scrawny boy. This led her to be schooled at home that year, but she also spent time attending the American Conservatory Theater in nearby San Francisco where she started taking acting lessons.
