Love Hurts - Series 3
Background Information: Love Hurts [Top]
Biography: Adam Faith [Top] Adam Faith was a British singer & actor. He was born Terence Nelhams-Wright in Acton in West London. He was unaware that his real surname was Nelhams-Wright until he applied for a passport & obtained his birth certificate. He was known as Terry Nelhams in his early life. Adam Faith was one of Britains early pop stars. His first hit, What Do You Want, came in 1959 & with subsequent songs like Poor Me Dont that Beat All & Someone Elses Baby he established himself as a serious rival to Cliff Richard in British pop music. His style & looks were in complete contrast to Cliffs, offering a real alternative for the teenage market. Like most contemporary pop singers, he did not write his own material & much of his early success was attributable to his partnership with John Barry. Faiths brand of sometimes rather twee pop became less popular through the 1960s in the face of competition from groups like the Beatles & he began an alternative career as an actor. While still a musician he had appeared in films such as Beat Girl, but now he concentrated on acting in the theatre.
