Hellsing - Vol. 2 - Episodes 4-6
Background Information: Hellsing Hellsing is an anime & manga series by Kohta Hirano & Studio GONZO. While the anime series is already over, the manga series is still produced in Japan. Based on the 1998 manga by Kohta Hirano, the Hellsing anime series is unique in that it takes much of itself from late 19th century & early 20th century Western fiction. It includes themes primarily from H P Lovecraft s Cthulhu works & Bram Stoker s Dracula creatively rolled together with some fast-paced anime action sequences. characters are well-detailed with beautiful, smooth animation & there is an extensive soundtrack, scored by Yasushi Ishii, which handily mixes punk rock & jazz with experimental elements. The main characters are part of the Hellsing organization, which seems to have been inspired by the Lovecraftian Miskatonic University s Wilmarth Foundation, an organization formed for fighting demons & the undead. Cthulhu Mythos fans will definitely get a kick out of the parallels. The Hellsing organisation is dedicated to sending all forms of unhunman life straight to hell. The leader of this secret english organisation is Integra Hellsing, who has a history with the pet vampire Alucard, that has not been revealed as of yet. In volume 2 the organisation faces an attack on their headquaters, a violation that Integra will not withstand. The attack comes from two vampires known as the valentine brothers. Alucard gets a kick from knowing he will get a challenge from these vampires, something he hasnt had in a while. With Alucards thrill of the fight & Integras determination to not let her organisation be over-run this volume is far superior to the first. The plot certainly thickens, the characters start to show their potential & it has more action & bloodshed than a back-to-back showing of the Die Hard movies. A must for ANY thrill seaker, especially those who like manga. Biography: Crispin Freeman Crispin Freeman is an American voice actor best known for his role as Alucard in the television anime Hellsing. Freeman attended the Latin School of Chicago, where he graduated in 1990. Earning his Bachelor of Arts degree from Williams College, he majored in Theater & minored in Computer Science. Consequently, he earned his Master of Fine Arts degree from Columbia University in Acting & performed on Broadway, the American Repertory Theater, the Mark Taper Forum & the Williamstown Theater Festival.
