Posters Of RadioheadBackground Information: Meeting People Is Easy [Top] Meeting People is Easy is a film/documentary by Grant Gee that follows Radiohead on their exhaustive world tour following the success of their third album, OK Computer. The film is basically a collage of video clips, sound bites & dialogue that has been edited into an hour & a half that takes you behind the scenes with the band as they travel the world. The film shows the eventual burn-out of the group as their world tour progresses. There are several recordings in the video that cant be found elsewhere, including a performance of Follow Me Around, a beautiful song they performed to an empty auditorium & at the conclusion simply asked, Is dinner ready? Interestingly, it also shows them in the studio, recording songs, working on Life in a Glass House, Big Boots & Palo Alto. The back of the package also has the lyrics for the aforementioned Big Boots, intentionally misprinted.
Consumer DVD Review [Top] Thom Yorke is a genius even if he likes to pretend he hates everything about what he does. The only reason i say meeting him might not be easy because the man might not live up to the legend!
To the film, first things first. If your after a coherent dvd of a live gig with formal interviews you will be very disappointed. However, what you do get is a fantastic insight into life on the road with one of the best bands ever. Its raw, the band never look at the camera, its mainly in black & white & it doesnt lie!I felt so sorry for the whole band after watching it. Here is a band who produce an album they thought would bomb & end up touring it for two years. They have people hyping them up when they know that they will get knocked down. The soundtrack to their journey features many great, unreleased or demo form songs such as meeting in the aisle, life in a glasshouse & the fantastic follow me around. How they managed to recover, regroup & come back with the fantastic Kid A i will never know. Whatever it was im thankful, this dvd is a reminder of the times & makes for very interesting viewing. Biography: Jonny Greenwood [Top] Jonnys extremely aggressive guitar playing has led him in the past to repetitive strain injury in his right arm. Advised by a doctor to wear an arm brace for a period of time, his brace has become a trademark of sorts. I enjoy putting it on before I play. Its like taping up your fingers before a boxing match. Jonny is also an outspoken champion of the Ondes Martenot, an early synthesizer, which he lists as one of his favorite instruments. He has composed a piece entitled Smear for a pair of Ondes Martenot. The Ondes can be heard on many Radiohead tracks, notably The National Anthem from Kid A He also utilizes modular synthesizers & devices such as the Korg Kaoss Pad on newer tracks. In recent years, Jonny has continued his progression as an artist in Radiohead & in 2003 he released his first solo album, Bodysong, the soundtrack for the movie with the same title by filmmaker Simon Pummell. His brother Colin also featured on the album. Jonny was hired by the BBC as its composer in residence in.
