Janes Addiction are often compared to iconic 70s rockers
Led Zeppelin. In the summer of 1985 Farrell was searching for a new bass player for the faltering Psi-com when he was introduced to Eric Avery. Although Farrell & Avery worked well together, Psi-com disbanded before they managed to play live with their new bassist. Later, Erics sister introduced the duo to Stephen Perkins. Following this fortuitous introduction, Perkins suggested his friend
Dave Navarro might be a suitable guitar player for the new band, dubbed Janes Addiction in honor of Farells housemate. With this lineup, the band released three major albums
Live at the Roxy, Nothings Shocking & Ritual De Lo Habitual. Though the band had only released 3 albums, their effect on rock music & the alternative music scene was enormous.
For all new bands out there; THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT! These guys are so on top of their game you just get swept along. This movie is based on a fairly daft concept but it never gets on top of you the way the music does. Thats in a good way, naturally!
Three Days is really interesting because it does its best to portray everything that goes on during a tour like this. Of course, at certain points it just shies away which is a cop out. Also, the songs are NOT shown in their entirety, which at first jarred with me but actually really works in relation to the other directorial decisions.
I wont repeat what the other reviewers already touched on, theyre all right about it; this is great to watch, either on your own or in company because there are so many talking points to be raised! I got this DVD four months ago & Ive watched it about 5 or 6 times which really is quite a lot considering any given movie only gets chucked on about twice a year if its lucky!
