Background Information: Barsaat [Top] Barsaat is a movie released on August 19, 2005 by the Bollywood film industry of India. It is directed by Suneel Darshan & stars Bobby Deol, Bipasha Basu & Priyanka Chopra. one made in 1949 & starring Raj Kapoor & the other made in 1995 & starring Bobby Deol. Arav is an ambitious young Indian whose dream is to design cars. He travels to the United States seeking greener pastures, where he meets the beautiful Anna. Anna instantly goes head over heels for Arav, but Arav remains focused on his career. Over time, he mellows & the two fall in love. Moreover, Aravs ambitions go on the upswing as the Chairman of the BMW company in the US gives him a job as a designer. Coincidentally, the BMW chairman just happens to be Annas grandfather & he announces the impending nuptials of Arav & Anna. As this development unfolds, Arav realizes that he has some matters to tend to back in India. He returns there intent on securing a divorce from his childhood sweetheart-turned-wife, Kajal, whom he had been forced to marry by his parents. However, Kajal is not so yielding.

Biography: Raj Kapoor [Top] Raj Kapoor was a megastar, producer, director, actor & all-round showman. He permanently carved for himself a special niche in commercial Hindi cinema. He was born Ranbir Raj Kapoor in a town called Samandru in Peshawar. His family left Peshawar & came to Bombay in 1929. The son of actor Prithviraj Kapoor, Raj Kapoor started his career as a clapper boy assisiting for Kidar Sharma but bagged his first film role at the age of eleven. He got his first break as a hero in Neel Kamal, a 1947 film by Kidar Sharma. In 1948, at the age of 24, he became the youngest film director of his time when he set up his own studio & made his first feature film, Aag, which would become the first of his many early successes, including Barsaat in 1949 & Shri 420, a reference to someone who has a reputation for theft & deception, in 1955. Raj Kapoor whole-heartedly embraced the Indian popular cinema from the very beginning. He made every effort to ensure that his movies appealed to every section of society, in particular the common man.
