Consumer DVD Review [Top] I was a bit sceptical about this film when I first went to see it, as despite the hype surrounding his performance in Trainspotting, Im less than convinced that Ewan Mcgreggor is actually any good. However, by the time the film finished my fears had been proved unfounded. Instead I left the cinema feeling overwhelmed by what I had seen, I was genuinely moved. This is a film which is basically about obsession & what it can do to people. But it is also so much more, it is one of the most tender love stories Ive ever seen. Its a haunting tale of lonliness, of two people needing each other, being so close, but never quite touching. For a tragic love story, it is in many ways far more tragic then say Romeo & Julliet. This is a film i must have spent days thinking about trying to understand, there are so many levels to it. If you want a film that you can easily get into, then not give a second thought to, see Batman & Robin, If you want a film that will engage you & leave you pondering its meaning weeks later, see Eye of the Beholder.
