Background Information: Rock [Top] Rock is a substance composed of minerals & classified according to mineral composition. Rocks are generally clasified by the processes that formed them & are thus separated into igneous, sedimentary & metamorphic rocks. Igneous rocks are formed from molten magma, sedimentary rocks by deposition & compression of particulate matter & metamorphic rocks by either of the first two categories after being changed by the effects of temperature & pressure. In cases where organic material leaves behind an imprint of itself in rock, the result is known as a fossil.
Biography: Red Hot Chili Peppers [Top] The Red Hot Chili Peppers are a Californian Los Angeles -based band birthed from the Punk-Rock / Rock movement of the late 1980s & early 1990s. The Peppers have gone on to further diversify their sound adding elements of ska, jazz, psychedelia,and blues to their songwriting. Vocalist Anthony Kiedis, bassist Michael Balzary, guitarist Hillel Slovak & drummer Jack Irons formed the band in 1983. Well known for their drug use & their numerous line up changes, the current line up features Kiedis, Flea, guitarist John Frusciante & drummer Chad Smith. Past members in addition to Slovak & Irons include Jack Sherman, Cliff Martinez, Dwayne Blackbird McKnight, D,H. Peligro, Arik Marshall, Jesse Tobias & Dave Navarro. The Red Hot Chili Peppers have eight studio albums, eight #1 modern rock hits & sold nearly 50 million copies of their albums worldwide. Originally signed to a record deal by EMI in 1983, they switched to Warner Brothers Records in 1991 & they have been with them since.

Their front man Ian Astbury later sang in place of the deceased Jim Morrison in gigs by the reformed Doors in the early 21st century. The second person in the band is the Guitar player Billy Duffy, who was with Ian Astbury the centre of the band. All other band members were exchanged.
