Consumer DVD Review [Top] Set at the beginning of the 20th Century this story tells the story of twofamilies involved in a deadly feud over land ownership. To resolve theproblem the eldest son of each family must take it in turn to kill theeldest son of the other family until there is no-one else left to kill. It is up to the youngest son of one of the families, Pacu, to break thecycle of violence & end the feud. This is a tragic tale which will haveyou crying by the end no doubt.

Biography: Walter Salles [Top] Walter Moreira Salles Jr. is a Brazilian filmmaker of international proeminence. His first notable film, Terra Estrangeira, was shot in 1995, was named Best Film of the Year in Brazil. It proceeded to won 8 international awards including the Audience Grand Prize at the Rencontres Internationales de Cinema de Paris & at the Film Festival of Bergamo & Film Festival of Belfort ; & was selected by over 40 film festivals. Two of his next films were produced by Arthur Cohn, one of which received two nominations for the Oscar award & won 55 international awards, including the Golden Bear at the 1998 Berlin International Film Festival, the Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Film, the National Board of Review Award for Best Foreign Film & the British Academy Film Award for Best Foreign Film. The other film produced by Cohn, Abril Despedaçado has also been incensed by critics & public alike.
