Background Information: Garry Marshall

Garry Kent Marshall is an American actor/director/writer/producer. He is the brother of actress/director Penny Marshall. Born in New York City, Marshall attended Northwestern University, where he wrote a sports column for the college newspaper. He began as a joke writer for such comedians as Joey Bishop & Phil Foster, then he became a writer for the Tonight Show with Jack Paar. In 1961 he moved to Hollywood, where he teamed up with Jerry Belson as a writer for television. The pair worked on The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Danny Thomas Show & The Lucy Show. They then adapted Neil Simon s play The Odd Couple for television. On his own, Marshall created Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley & Mork & Mindy. In 1984 Marshall had a movie hit as the writer of The Flamingo Kid. He went on to write Nothing in Common, Overboard, Beaches, Pretty Woman, Frankie & Johnny & Exit to Eden, among others. Marshall is also an actor, having appeared in the television series Murphy Brown & in such movies as Goldfinger, Grand Theft Auto, Lost in America, Jumpin Jack Flash, Runaway Bride & Orange County.

Michael McKean is an American actor, comedian, composer & musician, best known for his portrayal of Leonard Lenny Kosnowski on the sitcom Laverne & Shirley. McKean began his career as part of the comedy group Credibility Gap with Harry Shearer & David Lander but his breakthrough came in 1976 when he joined the cast of Laverne & Shirley, paired with David Lander who played Squiggy. McKean directed one episode & the characters became something of a phenomenon, even releasing an album as Lenny & the Squigtones in 1980, which featured a young Christopher Guest on guitar. McKean also played his character in an episode of Happy Days. After leaving Laverne & Shirley in 1982, McKean played David St. Hubbins in the cult spoof documentary movie This is Spinal Tap & appeared in the soap opera spoof Young Doctors In Love. McKean quickly became a recognisable name in film & television, with appearances in films such as Clue, Planes, Trains & Automobiles, Earth Girls Are Easy, the film adaptation of Memoirs of an Invisible Man & Coneheads. The New Adventures of Superman & Caroline in the City.
