Editorial DVD Review [Top] This smart, tautly directed thriller from Wolfgang Petersen is about the cat-and-mouse games between a Secret Service agent named Horrigan & the brilliant, psychopathic assassin whos itching to get the President in his cross hairs. In the Line of Fires back-story, Horrigan is haunted by his inability to prevent John Kennedys assassination , is more than a little hokey, but the plotting itself is smartly, even ingeniously, constructed. Petersen manages a vice-like grip on the tension & Eastwood even gets to deliver an ever-more-timely lecture on the diminished nature of the office of President. Eastwoods as gruff & as infuriating to the by-the-book Powers That Be as ever & Malkovich oozes delightful menace. Rene Russo capably co-stars as a colleague with whom Horrigan gets friendly.
Biography: Clint Eastwood [Top] Clint Eastwood is Gorillaz debut single, released off their self-titled album Gorillaz in March 2001. It peaked at the #4 in the UK & #57 in the US. The song is strangely reggae -ish hip-hop with melodic guitar & cheesy horror-film sounds, based on a sample of The Good, The Bad & The Ugly. The verses are rapped by Del tha Funkee Homosapien, portrayed as a blue phantom in the video, while the chorus is sung as a haunting melody by 2-D. Directed by Jamie Hewlett & Pete Candeland. The video is animated. Every dead body that is not exterminated, gets up & kills. The people it kills, get up & kill in English & Japanese. This phrase was deemed offensive in some countries & a censored video was produced that omits this intro. The band is seen performing the song in what appears to be a white room, or at the very least some sort of room depicting a digital television screen in the backdrop. Then something weird happens to Russel & his hat begins to rise up on its own. The ghost of Del appears & starts to rap the song, all the while leaving the Gorillaz dumbfounded.
