Extremities is almost like a filmed play, with a marvelous 4-person cast, & it keeps ones interest even though most of the action takes place in 2 rooms of a small house. This very low budget production may have many flaws, but it is at times riveting viewing. Farrah Fawcett followed her critically acclaimed The Burning Bed with this film, & once again proved that she was much more than a Charlies Angels pin-up. Along with Fawcett, James Russo is Joe, a truly creepy villain, & Alfre Woodard & Diana Scarwid are both terrific as Fawcetts housemates. Woodard is one of Hollywoods most beautiful & underrated actresses, & gives yet another wonderful performance, & Scarwid is very moving as she tells her personal history, & how she dealt with a similar trauma.

This is a character study of a depraved man who sets his mind on terrorizing a woman, first by assaulting her in a car, & then in a home invasion. The violence that ensues sometimes feels quite real, & the interest in the film lies mostly in the reactions by the 3 women affected by the psychological rape, & the fear of being killed by this monstrous man. It is a curious film about power & submission that doesnt always work, but the parts that do are excellent, & definitely worth watching.

Written by William Mastrosimone based on his play, & directed by Robert M. Young, Extremities is 89 minutes long, is often intense, & has great interaction between its 4 fine actors.

Biography: Farrah Fawcett

Mary Farrah Leni Fawcett is an actress who became a noted pop culture icon of the 1970s. Fawcett was the best-known star of the television series Charlies Angels, even though she was only on the cast for one year & a few guest spots. A photo of Farrah in a red swimsuit was one of the most popular pin-up posters of the 1970s & her layered, feathery-looking hairdo was among the most emulated hairstyles of the decade. She was married to actor Lee Majors from 1973 to 1982, though the two seperated in 1979. Fawcett achieved critical praise as a serious actress for her role as a battered wife in the 1984 television movie, The Burning Bed. She also won acclaim in the stage & movie version of Extremities. In this role, she played a rape victim who turns the tables on her attacker. In 1997 she received some negative attention after giving a less-than-coherent interview on The Late Show with David Letterman. It was speculated that her rambling, incoherent manner was because of drug abuse. She claims that she was just nervous & unprepared for the appearance. Posters Of Farrah Fawcett
