Area 88 is an anime series. It takes place in a fictional middle eastern country called Arsan in the late 1970s or early 1980s. A war has broken out & to assist with this unfortunate problem, the Arsan Mercenary Air Force has been set up, with headquarters at a secret airbase, Area 88. Shin Kazama, the movies main character has been torn from the sweet arms of his fair girlfriend, Ryoko & sent to Area 88 for three years. There are only 3 ways to leave the base; either serve for three years, earn 1,5 million in cash or desert & face execution for desertion. With each enemy plane brought down, Shin does not know if he can return to Japan in one piece or utterly lose his mind in doing so.
