Joan Geraldine Bennett was an American film actress who also achieved success later in life as a television actress. Born in Palisades, New Jersey, Bennett was the daughter of stage actors Richard Bennett & Adrienne Morrison & was the younger sister of actresses Constance Bennett & Barbara Bennett. Bennett made her first film appearance in 1918 in an uncredited part & appeared in a few silent films while a child. She married at the age of sixteen & when this marriage ended two years later, resumed her acting career. Contracted to 20th Century Fox she appeared as a blonde ingenue in a several films including Puttin on the Ritz in 1930, before leaving this studio to appear in Little Women. She was not taken seriously as an actress & struggled to establish herself. Her task was further complicated by the rapid rise to fame of her sister Constance, who at this time was one of Hollywood s most successful & popular actresses & with whom she was unfavourably compared. Spencer Bonaventure Tracy was an American film actor who appeared in 74 films from 1930 through the 1960s. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the second son of a truck salesman. At the beginning of World War I he left school to enlist in the Navy, but remained in Norfolk Navy Yard, Virginia throughout the war. Afterward he attended Ripon College where he appeared in a play entitled The Truth & decided on acting as a career. In the early 1920s he attended the Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. For several years he performed in stock in Michigan, Canada & Ohio. Finally in 1930 he appeared in a hit play on Broadway, The Last Mile. In 1923 he married Louise Treadwell & they had two children, John & Louise. In 1930, director John Ford saw him in the play The Last Mile & signed him to do Up the River for Fox Pictures. Shortly after that he & his family moved to Hollywood, where he made over 35 films in 5 years. Richard Brooks born in 1962 in Cleveland is a American actor. While initially gaining widespread exposure thanks to his role as ADA Paul Robinette on Law & Order in the early 1990s, Brooks has expanded his responsibilities to include directing with the release of his freshman feature Johnny B Good. A native of Cleveland who studied acting, dance & voice work at Michigan s Interlochen Academy of Arts, it wasnt long before Brooks was packing his bags for New York. He excelled as a student of the famed Circle in the Square Professional Theater School & his performances in the Eugene ONeill Theater Conference production of August Wilson s Fences quickly gained him a reputation as a stage force to be reckoned with. A subsequent move to Los Angeles found the burgeoning actor landing numerous television roles & with such made-for-TV features as Badge of the Assassin & Resting Place, he began to come into his own as a notable screen presence. Vincente Minnelli was the professional name of Lester Anthony Minnelli who was born in Chicago, Illinois. Although an accomplished film director of the 1940s & 1950s, he is best known as the father of Liza Minnelli from his six-year marriage to Judy Garland. He directed numerous films, including Meet Me in St. Louis, An American in Paris, Brigadoon, Kismet,, Gigi. His last film was A Matter of Time. He was the only surviving child of Vincent Minnelli, the conductor of the Minnelli Brothers Tent Theatre. Minnelli is credited with inventing the crab dolly for movie cameras. On his passing, he was interred in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Glendale, California. Posters Of An American In Paris
