Background Information: Christian Death
[Top]
Christian Death is a band name that originally applied to a Los Angeles death rock group during the post punk era in the early 1980s, but after some major line up changes, it became the name of a band popular within the British/European Goth scene during the late 1980s, despite there not being a single member left from the original Los Angeles death rock band. That later incarnation evolved into a hard rock group during the 1990s while, at the same time, members from the earlier incarnation got back together performing more traditional goth & death rock. After getting involved in the Los Angeles punk scene & playing in a few local bands, vocalist Rozz Williams founded Christian Death in October 1979 at age 16 with James McGearly, George Belanger & a guitarist named Jay brought in from a previous band Rozz had been in called Daucus Karota. The band name was originally a satirical play on words derived from the designer brand Christian Dior. They played their first show with 45 Grave & soon developed a following.

For radio or television programs that are broadcast in real time, rather than being recorded & broadcast at a later date, see Broadcasting#Recorded or live & live television. Live is also used in jargon references for objects under voltage. For the transcendental concept you may be looking for life as in being biologically animate or alive. Live is the name of an American rock band from York, Pennsylvania. The band Live is comprised of Ed Kowalczyk Chad Taylor, Patrick Dahlheimer & Chad Gracey. The original name of the band was First Aid, formed in the early 1980s. Several name changes followed, including Public Affection, under which they released The Death of a Dictionary. After a series of unsuccessful attempts at cracking the music business, the group recruited Jerry Harrison to produce Mental Jewelry, an album based on the writings of J Krishnamurti, an Indian philosopher. Live established a following & returned with Throwing Copper which was also popular, pushed by the success of singles Selling the Drama, I Alone & Lightning Crashes.
