Men in Black II is a 2002 science fiction comedy action film starring Will Smith & Tommy Lee Jones. The movie also stars Lara Flynn Boyle, Johnny Knoxville, Rosario Dawson & Rip Torn. It is the sequel to Men in Black. // It has been five years since the alien seeking agents averted in intergalactic disaster of epic proportions. Agent K since returned to the comforts of civilian life while Agent J continues to work for the Men in Black, the highly funded agency that monitors & regulates alien activity on Earth. While investigating a seemingly routine crime, J uncovers a diabolical plot by Serleena, an evil Kylothian monster who disguises herself as a lingerie model. Its a race against the clock as J must convince K — who not only has no memory of his time spent with the agency, but is also the only person alive who has the expertise to save the galaxy — to reunite with the MiB before Earth is destroyed. Men in Black 2 is a perfect example of knowing when to call it quits. While Men & Black was a very amusing & entertaining film, this sequel proves to be just another movie made only with the motive of cashing in more money. Everything that was in the first film has been recycled into this sequel with very unimpressive results.

Once again the world is in danger & it is up to the Men & Black to save it. Jay has to bring back Kay out of retirement, for he is possibly the only person with the answers & is the only guy who can help him. Using the same tired formula & ridiculously forced jokes, the two are back together again ready to face the alien scum of the earth.

Now, there are some pros to the movie. There are some amusing moments & jokes that do tend to get a laugh or two. The picture quality is great & there are some really cool special effects. However, there are far more cons than pros. Tommy Lee Jones is great at being funny through his seriousness, but it is nothing we havent seen in the first one. Will Smith seems even more desperate to be the center of attention in this one. There is hardly any lines that come out of his mouth that isnt a joke or a wisecrack. I did like Johnny Knoxvilles character & thought he didnt do too bad. However, the rest of the acting in the movie just wasnt there for the most part. The film also is very short, proving that they couldnt even think of a lot of new things to put in this one. Its not even an hour & a half if Im correct.

If youve seen the first Men in Black, then you have seen this one. I loved the first film & I think they shouldve just left it alone. Now, they decided to make a new sequel that is nothing more but a forced product to cash in more money from the moviegoers. This is nothing new, of course, but this one seems a lot more desperate than the rest. While it is amusing at some points, its just a tired movie that is running out of punch lines. Its that unfunny joke that your buddy keeps telling you over & over again with hope that one day youll finally laugh & find it funny.
